We all are struggling with something today. We all deal with the daily grind of life and most if not all of us, come against the wall of doubt and fear constantly. Just this week I had to shake off all the overwhelming thoughts that would cripple me mentally and spiritually if I let them. I mean, how many times can we worry about bills and how will we pay them? The fact is, we will always rise and fall in the different seasons of life, but we also have the opportunity to gain freedom from the jail of doubts and fears. Our faith is our freedom.
“And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God. Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:22-24
I have observed and talked to different family members and friends who seem to be locked away from their fullest potential. The non-stop suffering I see in their eyes makes me want to sometimes hold them all close and have my inner joy transfer to them. But, I can only share my story of how I once was lost but I found the freeing mindset that only Faith can provide. You all know what it feels like to be locked away internally while negative thoughts bombard your every waking moment. Even now as I am writing this, thoughts are popping up in my mind. Yet, the difference between who I was before faith and who I am now in faith, allows me to have the thoughts minus doubt and fear. Tell me, are you ready for your freedom?
“That the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.” Romans 8:22
I realize we all are walking through some conflict today and for the most part it is very difficult to see the joy through the pain. I can say with conviction that for many years of my life I was asleep. I allowed all the wind, rain, sleet, and hail of life to dig huge craters in my heart. I allowed the wrong people, the wrong habits, the wrong pursuits, and the wrong dreams to be the compass in my life. I did not seek first the Kingdom, I sought the world..yet the world only took from me, never giving anything. I was in jail spiritually and had not a clue that the light of faith was beaming brightly above me; patiently waiting for me to wake up. Are you still asleep?
Finally, I challenge you today to think about how free you are. Are you spiritually blocked by the many stresses of your life? Are you trapped behind bars of regret, doubts, fears, hurt and pain? If so, I urge you to lift your eyes up to hills from which cometh your help. God’s light shines brightest during our storms, He just needs us to grab onto Him tightly for the ultimate rescue. He is our personal 911 operator. And despite all the phone lines lighting up, He still has one open for all of us to get through. My Faith brought my freedom and it will for you. You got this!
