Through the Thick of It!

We always hear the term, “He Never Gives us more than we can bear.” I remember using that many times when I had a test coming up that I had no idea how I was going to pass it. I have used that term when I have recieved unexpected bad news. I have used it when I have been overwhelmed at work and at home. I have used it in all my tough situations. But, what do you do when the load begins to break your back and that term turns from a statement to a question? Do you dig deeper in your faith or do you seek the earthly solutions? Let’s see how we get through the thick of It.

Do you know that life’s problems come in three’s? If you have a flat tire, you then get a call from your child’s school, and you are already late for work. Three’s I tell you! It always amazes me how quickly a good day can turn bad. And when I was younger, those bad days were made worst because I kept the bad attitude with me longer than I had the problem. My situations would be all fixed, but my mindset was still problematic. I could not let it go. It was not until I trusted God with my problems, that I realized being in the thick of it, was only one more stepping stone to my blessings. But, I was not ready for the next thing until I started to handle my problems instead of them handling me.

“Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

I used to question God all the time about how he could give me more than I thought I could bear. Some of the trials I found myself in, made me question my sanity, my strength, my trust and my faith. Back then I did not have the right bat to face the curve balls of life. I succumbed to all the issues and layered guilt and shame on top of them. I remember having the smallest issues become mountain sized issues, just because of how I approached them. I did not pray or seek counsel from my ultimate counselor, I instead asked friends or family members who had their own baggage, to lead and guide me. No wonder my problems took forever to get through! You cannot seek guidance from tainted sources.

Only God can see us through it all. And just like the song, “Through It All” says, Through it all I learned to trust in Jesus, I learned to trust in God. He was and still is with me through the thick of it, while those same friends I had back then I no longer speak to. His love and guidance out ranks anything that can come our way because He is our source. He is unmatched in friendship and family, but just like my younger self, we tend to quickly look to others before we look to Him. Unfortunately these relationships cloud our judgements and most time lead us farther away than closer to Him.

In conclusion, being in the thick of it, is a blessing in disguise. We all know we are not immune to problems, but in God those problems are no longer an outright issue. We are able to swim through the murky waters of life because God is our life preserver. He holds us up over top of the grit and grime, that many situations can try to drown us in. Today look first to God to get you through the thick of it. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Remember that and you know you got this!

Sincerely,
Terryn
