We all have read in our bibles, this earth is not our home. It’s a strange place to be in when you do not recognize your surroundings. Have you ever found yourself asking the question, “Why do I struggle with fitting in?”
I have an answer……maybe we were not meant to.
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.” 1 John 2:15-17
I remember always feeling like a sore thumb. I was always the most everything. I could not seem to blend in with my surroundings.
I was too loud, too happy, too friendly, too silly, too dreamy, too much for the normal crowd. I could not seem to temper my enthusiasm with life. This made me feel like an outsider.
Too many of us get so wrapped up in our “everyday” that we fail to prepare ourselves for what we are meant for. We are meant to experience this life without getting eaten up by it.
“But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.” Hebrews 11:16
Wow, doesn’t it blow your mind that maybe, just maybe there is way better than this ahead of us?
There is a place where we all fit in, we all love one another unconditionally, we all can come together as one in accomplishing one goal….
God has seen COVID and has seen the suffering of His people. He sees how race has played a horrific part in hindering the growth of His children. He knows that our hearts have been broken constantly and that our burdens are heavy.
But, He knows first hand that humanity has the tendency to get very comfortable in its location instead of pressing toward the destination.
We should not look like the world because we are not of the world. We are destined for so much more.
“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” Matthew 16:26
We have free will but do not give our will freely. We crave to be free from constraints yet wrap ourselves up in all the worldly chains.
I urge you to look at your surroundings. Are you blending in with your environment or are you set apart?
You got this!
Sincerely,
Terryn
