Happy and prosperous New Year Everyone. Before I begin this week’s Inspirational post, I have to say first of all how blessed I am in having you all join me in my Faitherella Story.
Last year I gained so much knowledge in writing my posts, being a first time author, and stepping out my comfort zone to discuss this journey in a more public way.
This year of 2022, I pray my blog posts will help and inspire more people to chase their Godly destiny. My journey in my faith is still ongoing, but through Christ all things are possible. He has carried me through so many trials and I am greatful that I serve such a mighty God.
Now that the holiday madness and holiday rush has died down, I would like to talk about the subject that consistently comes up every new year, and this new year especially.
The subject I would like to start our new year off with, is “Resolutions”. Yes, folks the dreaded New Years resolutions that we all seem to have, yet we all seem to not be able to stick to.
I have not made any for this year, have you?
“Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.” Philippians 3:12-15
Okay, how many decisions do we make per day that are firm decisions? I would guess since the new year we have all resolved to do this or that, and then before we know it that became this again and this has already turned into that.
Why do we scramble at the end to always have a better beginning? I will tell you why, it’s because every year since childhood, we all have said “Happy New Year”, in the hope that a new year will bring about something better than we had previously.
Yet, this year I have seen and felt the pain and the frustration of a two year Pandemic and I admit, we all have forgotten how to strain forward towards the mark.
By the end of 2020 and 2021, we all had heard about more deaths, more pain, more sickness, more heartache than I can say I have experienced any other time in my life.
It wasn’t that these things were happening, it was that they were happening either simultaneously or so suddenly that sadness over the last thing had barely registered before the next bad event occurred.
It was enough to make all our heads spin, and then also get so wrapped up in the happening that God was pushed aside.
He fell by the wayside in our feelings of confusion, anger, sadness, and just plain anxious stress.
We easily forgot to bring Him into our hard times and did not rejoice with Him in our good times. How can we feel “Happy” in a new year when we have not brought the source of our happiness to it?
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23
I know we all have struggles we are facing, but I say, instead of having resolutions of financial gain, romance, and any other goal that may or may not come true, let us hold onto our God who supplies all our needs, our God who makes a way out of no way, our God who is the alpha and omega, our God who makes our night become day.
He is the only way to survive in this world that congratulates negativity and puts down positivity. A happy new you is only a mustard seed away, and you do not need a new year to make that happen.
Finally, I want to leave you with this food for thought…if you were to count your blessings against your losses in this new year, which would win? Yes, there may have been some significant losses, yet in Christ Jesus there is miraculous gain too.
A happy new year can mean a happy new you, once you have taken stock of the truth that God has carried you through.
This new year will be your greatest when you realize once again, through God’s blessings you have made it.
As always you got this!
