Have you ever been at a place in your life and looked back on how you got there with absolute wonder?
I am talking about the rocky, muddy, pot- holed filled path that seemingly got you to exactly where you were destined to be; yet you find yourself still denying that you are where God intended. Right now you are where you are for a purpose.
This is our Necessary Path…
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.” John 15:16
In my book, “Their Innocence, My Hustle, Our Growth…” I discuss in Chapter 8 about finding the path. I am describing a time or 10 of my experience with uncertain paths figuratively and spiritually. These paths we take are often because of our choices, yes, but they are are also ordained by God to fulfill His purpose in us.
We have all been feeling the heavy burden of this season. It’s left many of us on a very hidden and overgrown path that is hard to keep following at times. But when we trust in God, we continue to move forward despite not knowing the destination.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5
I have realized over time that the path laid out for me is not straight and clear. I must at times travel the road less traveled while focusing on the prize that Christ already promised me.
I will be honest and tell you this has been a hard pill to swallow because I have been arrogant enough at times to get comfortable with the routine of life. Which is dangerous to our faith walk in Christ. Our journey in Faith is never routine.
“The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way;” Psalms 37:23
The Necessary Path will not be easy or predictable for any of us. It will not be a path of comfort nor will it provide ease of mind….at times. This path will be treacherous, painful, strenuous, and dark.
Jesus did not promise us physical comfort on earth, but He did promise us eternal joy, peace, love and relief from all pain. But we must carry the cross and walk the necessary path to get to that promise.
I want to encourage you to keep walking without faltering in the quest for your divine purpose. God has allowed us to miraculous opportunity each day to get better at trusting His way over our own.
Like He promised over a millenia ago, He will never leave us nor forsake us. He has us close always; even when Satan brings out the worst to distract us from the path, God has the provisional backpacks to supply us at our times of trouble.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them is broken.” Psalms 34:18-20
I always say we got this because God got us. He opens our eyes daily, He allows for us to breathe freely, walk, talk, eat and just be…because He loves us so much. So be motivated to pray, motivated to stay strong, motivated to seek Him every chance you get for guidance and direction.
We walk the Necessary Path because God’s word and promise for us is NECESSARY.
YOU GOT THIS!
Sincerely,
Terryn Horton-Morton
We may not be certain of our destiny. Yet, God is. His plan is for us to prosper. I love it.
