The best gift that I can receive is a huge bouquet of flowers. Whether it’s Carnations, Roses, Hydrangea, Sunflowers, and Tulips, they all are my favorite assorted bouquet.
If I could I would send myself flowers everyday as a little pick me up.
Flowers represent a new season and new beginnings that occur every season; yet nevertheless many people do not share my love for the sweet smelling blooms.
They also don’t like bunny rabbits and babies. Just kidding!
I do agree that flowers tend to start withering after the second day. And most of us are not taking the time to use that flower food that usually comes with the bouquet.
Then after a week, we almost forget that we received the gift in the first place. We pass it, barely stopping to smell the roses, and that gift turns into a hindrance.
How many of us treat GOD’s blessings the same way?
It’s the end of the summer season and most of us are still experiencing sunny, blue skies and warm weather. The flowers have already bloomed and if you are like me, you are enjoying the imminent Fall changes too.
Everything is being prepared for the next season. But do you realize that GOD has provided us with a beautiful bouquet of natural blessings?
“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” James 1:17
Let’s face it many of us have been served a bouquet of heartache, pain, strife, sadness, guilt, and uncertainty from the world.
It’s been a long few years for many of us. We have lost so much of what we thought secured us, during these times.
You can turn on the television and see images of hurt, confusion, anger and disaster everywhere.
So tell me, when was the last time you stepped out your front door, inhaled and excepted GOD’S bouquet of blessings?
The colors, scents, sounds of the season should make us feel hopeful for new beginnings and new energy to be better than we were. I am tired of excepting less than God’s best, aren’t you?
“Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God,” 2 Corinthians 3:5
We do not accept God’s blessings because we always believe we are the ones in charge of all the gifts we receive. Question: How often are we accepting gifts greater than us while forgetting that GOD is the source of that very gift?
Or if we mention God, it is just a quick shout out and not a genuine thank you to our Creator who supplies all of our needs.
When we get a bouquet of blessings we immediately believe it’s because of what we did, and that simply is not the case.
Do you really think you are where you are because of your energy, your work ethic, your vision, your own drive?
Just like the energy it takes for a small bud to change into a beautiful blossom, is the amount of energy and more that GOD pours into us to become the incredible beings we are.
Every time you accomplish something it’s one more flower being added to GOD’S favor bouquet.
So when you study for a mid term and then pass it..that’s one flower. When you practice for a recital and nail your solo..that’s another flower. When you graduate high school/college/trade school etc…that’s a flower. When you land the job you worked hard to get by praying and staying faithful. ..that’s another flower. When you meet and marry your mate…that’s a flower. When you become a parent…..flower. When you become a healthier you..that is also another flower.
All these gifts are only given to us from the one who allowed the opportunity for us to experience and obtain them in the first place.
“Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14
Finally I ask that you take some time out in your hectic day or week to remember all the flowers that GOD has added to your bouquet.
They are different shapes, sizes, smells, and colors. But they all come from one source, GOD.
Don’t make these blessings a hindrance by claiming you are their source. Just like flowers, blessings come from a Light that is much stronger and brighter than us.
I enjoy being given flowers, how about you?
Remember God loves you always. You got this because God got us.
Sincerely,
Terryn Horton-Morton
Pressing forward. In the Name of Jesus. Amen. Love it.
