Faith Journey

Hearty Ways-Chapter 2 Heart Series

As I have gotten older I have noticed that I do almost everything with my heart in mind. If my heart is not into something, I will not pursue it. Our hearts take on so much internally and externally. And many of us do not really understand the toll life can take on our hearts when we are not doing what it takes to keep them healthy. We always hear that a mind is a terrible thing to waste, but what about the heart? Should we be wasting our heart energy on things not worth the time? Do you think the number of heart attacks would decrease of only our faith would increase? Let’s dig into some hearty ways.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10

How many of you go into any endeavor with your heart? There seems to always be a battle between the heart and the mind. Now, emotions and hormones can be confused with the heart too, but that is a whole other subject. What I am referring to is the feeling deep within yourself that you made the right decision. And usually this comes with a feeling of freedom and lightening of the weight on your shoulders. Our ways can fully be in tuned with our hearts if we first trust in God who taught us first, the instructions on how to handle matters of the heart.

“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” Jeremiah 17:10

We all know that our heart can become misguided by different circumstances in our lives. And we often will find at different stages we will handle things depending on what is going on at the time. For instance, when you were young and single your heart was focused on personal wants and needs. When you get into a relationship,  those wants and needs become less yours but more ours. Then when you start to have a family, you find that the old ways of your heart have been even more changed to include multiple wants and needs. And in all of these ways of the heart it is totally warranted. We are not meant to stay in one place forever, and God knows that our ways will never match completely up to His. This is why He saved us long ago to protect us from the hearty temptations we face in every stage of our lives.

“Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the heart.” Proverbs 21:2

In now facing everything in my life with heart, I am aware that I leave it open to disappointment, pain, and sometimes fear. I know my ways now will not match up to what my family, my friends, or colleagues may agree with. But, I have come to realize that I have to seek God’s approval in any and everything I do. And many of the decisions in life, when you trust in God, comes with alot of patience and faith that the outcome will work in the end. God’s ways can become our hearty ways if we learn to let go of the deceiving control we think we have and give it to Him who always will have it. I pray you will lighten your loads today and let God’s heart show in all the ways your heart may take you. As usual you know you got this!

Sincerely,
Terryn
